Since October 2008, building on an initial pilot project funded by Cambridge Education@Islington, The Garden Classroom has delivered over 100 workshops for local primary schools and children's organisations at King Henry's Walk Garden, Culpeper Community Garden, and on site at schools using their own outside spaces. From this successful start The Garden Classroom is now expanding to outreach to more local primary schools to encourage them to take part in educational sessions.

The Garden Classroom is also working with the Charles Darwin Trust to deliver high quality outdoor education to London school communities, and as part of the Edible Islington local food project, is helping three Islington primary schools to learn to grow their own food.

'When I was a kid we were allowed to go outside to dig worms and get muddy. Anyone who doesn’t have that opportunity is surely missing out? The Garden Classroom is doing the vital job of reconnecting people to the natural world.'

Joe Swift, horticulturalist and broadcaster.

'The classroom session was really informative and the practical activities were fun and educational. Thank you so much, we’ve had a great few weeks and look forward to coming back soon. Highly recommended.'

Teacher, St Jude’s & St Paul’s Primary School.
