The social and economic benefits of learning outside of the classroom

In September 2022 two reports were published by Natural England that confirm that high quality learning outside the classroom in natural environments can deliver a wide range of positive health and learning outcomes.

High quality learning outside the classroom in natural environments can deliver a very wide range of outcomes and co-benefits that support teaching and learning in educational settings.

The evidence, including several systematic reviews, demonstrates positive associations between different teaching and learning approaches in natural environments and a wide range of learning processes and outcomes.

Even the presence of natural environments in or around homes and educational settings are also associated with positive learning, behavioural, emotional, and health outcomes.
