Help children in North East London forge a lifelong love of nature by sponsoring a school to take part in our Urban Forest School programme.

We create a partnership between a business and a school to mutual benefit. Through sponsorship every week, children are able to experience the wide range of benefits that forest school brings.

Corporate volunteers can also support the programme to help deliver a company’s CSR commitments.

We’re here to help you find what’s best for you.

  • You can sponsor a class of up to 30 children for one term (10 sessions) for £3750.

  • We welcome those who work for the sponsoring company to attend sessions and support the children in their development.  Once DBS checks are carried out by the school, volunteers can attend the weekly 2 hour sessions and support in a range of forest school activities such as fire making, tool use and den building.

  • Evidence suggests that the forest school approach makes children more resilient, confident, independent and improves their social interactions.  The Garden Classroom carried out research with teachers that showed over 90% of participating of staff agreed or strongly agreed the sessions had a positive impact on their pupils happiness, physical development, social interactions and engagement.

  • The benefits to businesses of working with charities that align with their values include:

    • positive public image and building customer loyalty
    • promoting team cohesion and job satisfaction
    • contributing to solving local and global problems
    • eligible donations can be offset against profit, lowering corporation tax

Case Study: Pinsent Masons and St. John of Jerusalem School

“Our commitment to ‘inspiring young lives’ is at the forefront of our community investment agenda. Through volunteering we aim to open children and young people up to their potential, encourage academic achievement and demonstrate to students the breadth of opportunities available to them. Through our volunteering we focus on creating inclusive and healthy learning environments where children and young people can thrive, which is why the Garden Classroom is so important to us.

We are led by local needs, with one overarching global ambition: to raise aspirations and do everything we can to engage with, support and inspire the next generation.

Through our work with St John of Jerusalem Primary School and the Garden Classroom our aim is to encourage the children to explore the outdoors and develop a range of skills in the process, through working with others, communicating with our volunteers, learning from one another and building their confidence. We have seen how this in turn has helped the children in their school work.

This opportunity is a fantastic way for our colleagues to also build their own skills and qualities, such as communication skills, planning, teamwork and negotiating. Whilst also understanding the needs in our communities, learning how best to support one another, and sharing insights to encourage pupils in their studies”.
